I'm Katie. I'm a Barista at Starbucks. I'm definitely an insomniac, which doesn't help me much! I was born liking weird things. Seriously. Coffee and Tea are my main food groups, which is rather unhealthy. I'm very stubborn, but in the end come to make the right choices. I love old things. I'm an artist. I would be a free spirit if it wasn't for my intense organization when it comes to planning things. I like beer. I really like dark chocolate. I'm a vegetarian. I was kind of born that way too. I enjoy a good break down. I love getting flowers and putting them on display. My best friends mean the world to me. I honestly could go on forever about things I love. I kind of wish I lived somehwere like Stars Hollow, but then everyone knows all your business. I love taking pictures, always have. I love dancing and trying new things. I'm terrified of heights, but somehow love the thrill of rollercoasters. I'm a big family person. Chances are, I wrote this when I should have been sleeping.

Throughout the past four years, we keep hearing about the impact of this economy on the middle class, which of course, is important, but it’s having a great impact on these people, too. They can resort to strategies that make them seem unsympathetic. That’s what’s been missing from this debate. This recession aftermath has been so framed in terms of an impact on the middle class that the poor have largely been pushed out of the spotlight … and they’re really in political oblivion right now.
On today’s Fresh Air, how the recession has impacted America’s poorest women. (via nprfreshair)
